2020 Golf Day & COVID-19

We’ve been keeping an eye on government guidelines for COVID19, as well as seeing how the country wants to thank and support the NHS for their extraordinary work and commitment.

With these in mind, we’re keen to hold the Oxford Children’s Hospital Golf Day this year, safely and within the government guidelines.

The arrangements for this year’s golf day on Friday, September 11th are going to be slightly different to previous years, so please read on and make sure the members of your team know the details, too.

1. Arrival

To avoid crowding at arrival, it’ll be a staggered, two-tee start for the 18 teams this year.

You will have your temperature taken on the car park on arrival – if you temperature is at or above the government guidelines of 37.8C, you and any other passengers in your vehicle will be asked to leave, for the safety of everyone.

The changing rooms will be closed – please arrive ready to play.
As it’s a fundraiser – please remember to bring both cash and payment card, it will help everyone be involved in the many small fund-raising efforts during the day, and will also help the golf day team process payments quickly and maintain social distance.

2. Socially-distanced Registration

Meet with your team in the car park and register at the clubhouse outdoor desk on arrival. Please maintain social distancing. You will be given a card for your team, please nominate one person to mark it – they will be asked to tally up your team score and report it to the registration team, after your round.

Again this year, you will have the opportunity to buy up to 3 mulligans for £5 each. Please bring cash to put in the collection bucket – or card payments can be taken, if needed.

Running alongside the main team competition, the “Yellow Ball” competition is replaced this year by “The Bandit”. Pay a team entry fee of £20 and nominate The Bandit on your team – the highest Stableford score of all Bandits will win a cash prize for their team. Choose wisely…

Then collect your coffee and bacon roll and get ready to play. There will be no welcome speech this year, make your way to your nominated tee no earlier than 10 minutes before your tee time.

3. Play

The competition is the same format as previous years:

• We will be playing full handicap Stableford rules throughout the competition
• On every par 4 and par 5 the BEST TWO Stableford scores in your team are added together for your team score on that hole. Please however record all individual point scores on your scorecard
• On every par 3 you add ALL of your individual points for that hole for your team score

After your round, please have your marker tally up the scores, plus The Bandit’s score, and report it to the Studley Wood golf team.

4. Socially-distanced Prizes, Buffet & Charity Auction

After your round, you’ll have time to relax on the patio area, and the bar will open – whilst maintaining social distancing – although the changing rooms will remain closed. Once all the teams are finished there will be an outdoor buffet dinner (we’ll confirm the food choice soon), along with prize-giving and Nathan’s unrivalled MC’ing of the charity auction.

Please be sure to bring appropriate clothing for an autumn afternoon / early evening!

We’ll send out a reminder of the arrangements a couple of days before the golf day.

Can you help with auction and raffle prizes?

We’re always grateful for donations to the charity auction and raffle – please let us know if you can donate a prize, large or small.
