Grandparents’ Stories – In Memory of Milo

Ian’s story…

When my grandson, Milo, was born in February 2012, in Milton Keynes General Hospital, he had many problems, and within a short time was referred to Oxford Children’s Hospital.  The care Milo received there was quite exceptional, and the support given to his parents, Dale and LInsey, was wonderful. Both the doctors and nursing staff were extremely supportive during some very difficult times, nothing was too much for them.

Milo was never well enough to have a home visit, but the hospital ensured that his parents could be with him whenever they wished, grandparents and other members of the family were always welcome also.

As a parent it is extremely difficult to deal with all the emotions of having a child in such a serious condition, but everyone at the hospital went out of their way to show caring and kindness to Dale and Linsey throughout this time.

Sadly Milo lost his battle for life, and passed away on July 3rd 2012, but during his short life he touched the hearts of so many people, and even at this extremely sad time the staff at the hospital were very caring, ensuring that Dale and Linsey had all the support and privacy that they needed.

It is not possible to put into words the gratitude that all of Milo’s family feel for the amazing staff at Oxford Children’s Hospital, and by bringing a team to the Golf Day each year I hope that we can give something in return.
